ALAP Announces Update to InEffects Plug-in

Newly announced update to version 1.0.1 adds support for InDesign CS2, addresses known issues

A Lowly Apprentice Production, Inc. (ALAP) has released an update to their InEffects InDesign plug-in product. The update brings InDesign CS2 support and is said to address known issues in the 1.0.0 version, and is available as a free maintenance update to current owners of the plug-in.

InEffects adds image manipulation effects such as those found in Illustrator and Photoshop (drop shadows, inner and outer glows, bevelling and embossing, et.al.) directly into InDesign. Moreover these effects can be combined into and saved as InEffects styles, with all the mutability InDesign users are already familiar with in Character, Paragraph, and Object Styles.

The aim of InEffects is to increase InDesigners’ productivity by reducing the need to transition to Photoshop to apply special effects. David Blatner, renowned graphic arts consultant, trainer and author, was quoted by ALAP as saying:

At first glance, I thought InEffects was just for special effects — but it’s actually a great productivity tool as well, letting me stay in InDesign longer instead of constantly switching to Photoshop! InEffects is Incredibly cool.

InEffects 1.0.1 is a free maintenance update for users of InEffects 1.0, and costs USD $99.99. It will work on Mac OS 9.1 or later, and is available from ALAP’s store which can be accessed at this link.
